Encyclia cochleata - Known by many names. Prosthechea cochleata, Anacheilium cochleatum, and Epidendrum cochleatum. Commonly referred to as the clamshell orchid, cockleshell orchid, or octopus orchid. Native to Central America. These are in 2 inch pots. They are about 1 year from blooming size. Flowers are about 2 inches wide and about 2.5 to 3 inches tall. These are easy to grow and they flower for 3-6 months. They start blooming in late spring or early summer and last through the summer and well into fall and even winter (mature plants). They are sequential bloomers, so they will loose flowers, but keep getting new ones for months. Great plant, especially for the beginner.
