"Mounted Orchid Plants" Growing Orchids on wood mounts simulates how they cling & grow on tree branches in their natural habitat. With the right conditions, many Orchid plants actually grow better and faster this way. Mounted Orchid plants need to be watered or misted 5 to 7 times a week. Growing Orchids on mounts is not for everybody though, as they require more care/water and high humidity. Sometimes not the best for ordinary windowsill growing.
Growing tip - Adding more sphagnum moss around the roots or wrapping some Spanish moss (Tillandsia usneoides) around the mount can help with humidity and longer water intervals.
